                               BOX ELDER COUNTY COMMISSION

                                          JUNE 21, 2005

                                                                             

 

 

 

The Board of County Commissioners of Box Elder County, Utah met in a work session at the County Courthouse, 01 South Main Street in Brigham City, Utah at 8:00 a.m. on JUNE 21, 2005.  The following members were present:

Clark N. Davis                              Commissioner

Suzanne R. Rees                           Commissioner

LuAnn Adams                               Recorder/Clerk/Surveyor

 

The following items were discussed:

 

1.      Courthouse Follow-up – Chairman Hansen

The work session adjourned at 8:59 a.m.

 

Chairman Hansen called the regular session to order at 9:00 a.m. with the following members present, constituting a quorum:

Chairman Hansen offered the prayer.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

 

THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF JUNE 14, 2005 WERE APPROVED ON A MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DAVIS, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER REES AND UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED WITH THE FOLLOWING CHANGE:  UNDER EEOP THE MOTION WAS SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER REES INSTEAD OF COMMISSIONER HANSEN.

FOLLOW-UP BUSINESS

 

VICTIM ADVOCATE GRANT – AMY HUGIE

 

County Attorney Amy Hugie presented a grant to the Commissioners to fund the victim advocate from July 1, 2005-June 30, 2006.

 

MOTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Davis to authorize Chairman Hansen to sign the grant for full funding of a victim advocate from June 30, 2005-July 1, 2006.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Rees and unanimously carried.

 

BID OPENING/CHIP SEAL – JOHN COLLOM

 

Road Supervisor John Collom said he sent out three requests for bid for chip seal and received one back from Staker-Parson Companies.

 

MOTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Rees to accept the single bid for Staker-Parson Companies for 7,000 tons of chip seal at $7.50 per ton for a total bid of $56,500 and allow John Collom to proceed.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Davis and unanimously carried.

 

RESOLUTION 04-03/COMMUNICATION WITH PARTIES TO THREATENED, PENDING OR ONGOING LITIGATION – COMMISSIONER DAVIS

 

Commissioner Davis said litigation was filed last week.  He wanted to remind the elected officials that we do have a policy regarding correspondence with the plaintiffs.  Commissioner Davis then read parts of the resolution.

 

COURTHOUSE FOLLOW-UP – CHAIRMAN HANSEN

 

This item was canceled.

 

WARRANT REGISTER – COMMISSIONERS

 

The warrant register was signed, and the following claims were approved for payment:  Claims number 38012 thru 38039 in the amount of $411,600.67.  Claims 38040 thru 38131 in the amount of $109,969.83.

 

PERSONNEL ACTIONS – COMMISSIONERS

 

SHERIFF/CORRECTIONS:                      Daniel Behm, separation, effective 06/03/2005

 

ASSIGNMENT REVIEW - COMMISSIONERS

 

The Commissioners reviewed assignments.

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Rees to adjourn.  Commissioner Davis seconded the motion, and the meeting adjourned at 9:17 a.m.
