Burn Ordinance
 
In order to have an open fire all residents within Box Elder County are required to have a burn permit. Burn Permits are issued Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 to 4:00 by the Box Elder County Fire Marshal’s Office. Burn permits for Saturday burns will be issued the Friday before. 
 
All permits are weather permitting, permits will not be issued during severe weather, ex: rain, snow, wind, and air quality must reach a Clearing index (basin 1) of 500 plus. 
 
-Permits are issued for the same day that you are burning except for Saturdays*
-There is no burning prior to 10:00 am and all fires have to be out before dark. 
-All permits expire at Dark.

ires must be supervised at all times. 
-Household items and trash may not be burned. 
-Residents may burn brush, cardboard, paper, ditches, fields, weeds, trees, and wood.
-Residents with a burn barrel must have a grate over the top and do not require a burn permit unless they are within WILLARD CITY LIMITS

Brigham City residents need to contact Jim Buchanan at Brigham City Fire to receive a burn permit. Box Elder County does not issue permits for Brigham City Residents.

*Saturday permits are issued the friday before. residents who obtain a burn permit for friday and saturday burning must extinguish their fire friday and saturday nights this permit does not allow them to smolder without fire marshal’s consent.
